This cookie policy explains how Independo GmbH (“company”, “we”, “us” and “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies to recognize you when you visit our website https://www.independo.app (“Site”). It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use. In some cases, we may use cookies to collect personal information, or which become personal information when we combine them with other information.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files that are stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are often used by website operators to make their websites functional or to make them more efficient and to provide information for reporting. Cookies set by the owner of the website (in this case Independo GmbH) are known as “first-party cookies.” Cookies that are set by parties other than the owner of the website are known as “third-party cookies.” Third party cookies make it possible to provide third-party features or functions on or through the website (such as advertising, interactive content, and analytics). The parties that set these third-party cookies can recognize your computer both when you visit the website in question and when you visit certain other websites.

Why do we use cookies?

We use first-party and third-party cookies for a variety of reasons. Some cookies are required for technical reasons to make our website work, and we call these “essential” or “absolutely necessary” cookies. Other cookies also allow us to track and target the interests of our users in order to improve the experience on our online properties. Third parties use cookies on our website for advertising, analysis and other purposes. This is described in more detail below.

How can I control cookies?

You decide whether you accept or reject cookies. Our cookie banner asks you on your first visit. You can choose “Accept all” or “Only necessary”; both buttons carry equal weight. Under “Customize” you decide on statistics and marketing separately. Marketing requires statistics, because we measure Google Ads campaigns only through Google Analytics 4. Necessary cookies cannot be rejected, because the website does not work without them.

You can change your answer at any time. The banner reopens through the cookie button at the bottom left of every page. If you decline, you can still use our website without restriction. You can also manage cookies in your browser.

We apply your answer through Google Consent Mode v2. The signals analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization default to “denied” and are only set to “granted” once you have consented.

Statistics and marketing cookies are only set after you have consented. Without your consent we set nothing but the necessary cookie in the first row.

How can I control cookies in my browser?

Since the options for rejecting cookies in your web browser vary from browser to browser, you should visit your browser’s help menu for more information. The following is information on how to manage cookies in the most popular browsers: Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Opera.

In addition, most ad networks offer you the option to opt out of targeted advertising. If you would like to learn more, please visit us: Digital Advertising Alliance Digital, Advertising Alliance of Canada, European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance

What about other tracking technologies, such as web beacons?

Cookies aren’t the only way to recognize or track visitors to a website. We may also use other, similar technologies from time to time, such as web beacons (sometimes called “web beacons” or “clear gifs”). These are tiny graphic files that contain a unique identifier that allows us to recognize whether someone has visited our website or opened an email that contains it. For example, this allows us to monitor users’ traffic patterns from one page within a website to another, deliver or communicate with cookies, determine whether you came to the website via an online advertisement displayed on a third party website, improve website performance, and measure the success of email marketing campaigns. In many cases, these technologies rely on cookies to function properly, so rejecting cookies affects their function.

Are you using Flash cookies or local shared objects?

Websites may also use so-called “Flash Cookies” (also known as Local Shared Objects or “LSOs”) to, among other things, collect and store information about your use of our services, to prevent fraud, and to use other features of the website.

If you do not want Flash cookies to be saved on your computer, you can adjust your Flash player settings to block Flash cookies from being saved by using the tools in the website storage settings area. You can also control Flash cookies by going to the global storage settings panel and following the instructions (the instructions can explain, for example, how to delete existing Flash cookies (referred to as “information” on the Macromedia website), how to prevent Flash LSOs from being placed on your computer without being asked, and (for Flash Player 8 and above) how to block Flash cookies that are not from the operator of the page you are currently on be provided).

Are you running targeted advertising?

We run ads on Google Ads to draw attention to our Info-Stunde sessions and to the Independo Portal. We do not embed an advertising tag or an advertising pixel of our own on this website.

If you consent to marketing cookies, Google may link the usage data from Google Analytics 4 to your click on one of our ads. That is how we see which ad led to a registration or an enquiry, and how Google can show you our ads again. We only receive aggregated reports and no details that directly identify you.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example, to reflect changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Therefore, please review this Cookie Policy regularly to learn about our use of cookies and related technologies.

The date at the top of this Cookie Policy shows when it was last updated.
